In June 2019, Cameroon hosted the African Nations Cup, competitions took place in five main cities: Yaoundé, Douala, Limbé, Bafoussam and Garoua. In Douala, The Stade De La Réunification was redesigned to play a semi-final and for official training sessions. The installations also hosted the women’s Africa Cup of Nations in an official match in 2020.
The project includes the complete refurbishment of the infrastructure and the tribunes, giving a seating capacity of 45,000 spectators. The field has been renovated and refurbished with a natural turf that fulfills the current international standards set by CAF (confédération africaine de football) and FIFA. The stadium is also available for hosting international competitions again. The athletics track and the whole infrastructure comply with IAAF standards.
A second training field, reserved for amateur footballers and for the youth from the neighborhood, is completely renewed. The training field is furnished with the latest generation of natural grass to welcome players in the best way possible, and to optimize the sequence and practice time of disciplines that will be sharing this infrastructure during school and extracurricular time. This field is delivered with all services: parking, changing rooms, 1,000-seat per tribune, etc.
