Located in the heart of Mantes-la-Jolie, Paul Bert Square occupies a strategic position within a lively residential neighborhood with a village-like atmosphere. Situated between the town hall, the post office, and the nearby schools and daycare centers, it stands out as a central, unifying public space within the city center.

The design of the square is guided by several key intentions. One of these is to create a continuous landscape thread linking the neighborhood’s public spaces, with Paul Bert Square serving as the anchor point.

Revitalize and enhance the appeal of this central space by making it welcoming, vibrant, and sociable. Rethink its uses through recreational and inclusive amenities suitable for all generations. Strengthen the presence of vegetation and increase soil permeability to transform the square into a genuine cool island, supporting biodiversity and forming a key link in the urban green and blue network.

The approach aims to create an ecological and urban continuity from the Triangle to Sainte-Anne Square, passing through Paul Bert Square. This guiding thread is expressed through variations in vegetation density, a diversity of atmospheres, and the staging of activities around nature. Along Rue de Gassicourt, this landscape connection becomes a living, structured green ribbon, inviting strolling, social interaction, and the rediscovery of a calm and generous city center.
