Ferme Cavan (Cavan Farm)

La Ferme Cavan occupies a major place in the historic village, both for its history and its physical presence. This former farmstead is the focus of an ambitious municipal redevelopment project combining housing, an artist residence, community facilities, co-working spaces, exhibition and cultural event areas, and local markets.

This emerging cultural third-place relies on its atypical landscaped setting and its 4,000 m² open space, which will support a future park for local residents.

The project aims to highlight local heritage and biodiversity while addressing municipal parking needs. It is structured around the requalification of the courtyard as a central living space that recalls the historic farmstead, and the creation of shared cultural spaces, relaxation areas, and cultural amenities—including a mini educational farm, a communal orchard, a planted amphitheater, a shared vegetable garden, and a picnic area.

Designed for everyone’s well-being, the Ferme Cavan park is a place where nature, tranquility, and conviviality meet. Whether for a walk, a moment of relaxation, or a community event, it offers everyone the opportunity to enjoy a welcoming space at the heart of the village. The ultimate goal is to create a place that blends uses and encourages encounters between different audiences.

To respect the landscaped context and historical setting, materials are chosen to be simple yet high-quality (crushed gravel, natural stone, grassed pavers…), consistent with those already present in the village’s historic core. The park is structured by a pedestrian framework linking small squares and highlighting the various sub-spaces of the park (amphitheater, participatory gardens, central courtyard, etc.).

Stormwater management is designed to be gentle and thoughtful, using permeable materials and highlighting recessed areas that contribute to the site’s ecosystem diversity and varied plantings.
