school campus

A campus (from the Latin word for ‘field’) refers to the space that brings together the buildings and infrastructure of a university or school. This park-like area typically includes buildings housing classrooms and research facilities, libraries, cafeterias, student residences, and sometimes sports complexes. This model contrasts with institutions like Oxford or Cambridge, where buildings are dispersed throughout a city.”

Given the specificity of the program and the variety of spaces desired, we have chosen to organize our campus around a covered street, which thus becomes the backbone of the project.

This street will be accessible from the public realm via an exterior forecourt extended by an interior forecourt; the latter, directly connected to the street, will allow all users—children, parents, and teachers—to have a complete, fully secure view of the campus.

The exterior forecourt, serving as the main entrance to the campus, is directly connected through safe, pedestrian-friendly routes to the teacher parking area and the drop-off zone. It will provide a landscaped space with organic shapes that contrast with the building’s geometry. This area will be protected and reserved exclusively for pedestrians. Scattered with benches perpendicular to the main axis, this forecourt will also serve older students who wish to sit and relax, as well as parents dropping off or picking up their children.
