Sports center – houlgate 2

Extension and Renovation of the Gymnasium, Dojo, Accommodations, and Landscaping

The second phase of the Normandy Sports Center in Houlgate continues the site’s ongoing transformation, reinforcing its landscape integration and its role as a flagship facility.

Designed in connection with the Olympic Games, this phase combines the renovation of the gymnasium and its annexes, the creation of a covered beach court, the extension of the dojo, and a recreational clearing directly linked to the Drochon River, which structures the site.

The exterior landscaping redefines pedestrian pathways and parking areas, while establishing a vegetal framework inspired by the Normandy bocage and maritime landscape.

Stormwater management, integrated into the design of swales and tree alignments, contributes to a sustainable and calming environment. Clearly defined landscape sub-spaces offer areas for relaxation and leisure, extending the sports activities with moments of conviviality and respite within a recomposed site that connects seamlessly to its surroundings and strengthens its link with neighboring public spaces.

the park can expand further, contributing to the creation of true pedestrian and ecological corridors at the municipal scale.
